Google Introduces High-Definition Driving Maps and Remote Control Features for Polestar Vehicles

HD Driving Maps for Polestar 3 SUV
Google is debuting "HD" driving maps for the Polestar 3 SUV, which will provide current, extra-detailed road information ranging from lanes to road signs. The maps will be used in the car's optional, LiDAR-based Pilot Pack for self-driving features and will also be available in the Volvo EX90. The maps will be available when the Polestar 3 is released in late 2023 for $85,300 in the US. The maps could encourage other car manufacturers to adopt Google's apps and services. However, it is unclear if the Polestar 2 will receive the updated HD maps. The feature is currently only available in the US but will expand to other countries.

Remote Actions for Polestar 2
An update for the Polestar 2 sedan will allow users to remotely control the climate control system, unlock doors, check the battery level, and use Google Assistant. I have even found that using Google Assistant is often times faster and more reliable than the Polestar app.
What areas can be controlled using Google Assistant?
In addition to asking the Assistant to search for information on Google, search for weather forecasts, or manage your Google Calendar, you can also control a number of functions in the vehicle using your voice. These include:
- media
- radio
- phone and text messages
- navigation with Google Maps
- climate.
