Update Sept. 28th: Polestar 2 2.3 Update Still Pulled Back

UPDATE: Polestar has paused the roll-out of 2.3 due to instability issues unlocking with physical keys. The update locked me out of my car for 12 hours during the update. Read my full write-up here!

A couple of weeks ago, evidence of update 2.3 was posted in a Swedish Facebook group. It took a while for release notes to be posted, however since then Polestar has posted the release notes on their website. With items such as “Stability improvements for issue with unlocking the vehicle with physical key.”. Hopefully relating to TCAM issues the Poletar2 has been having.

As of today, there have been posts about update notifications on Polestar 2's in the United States. I was one of those lucky ones to get the update notification. Over the air (OTA) updates are one of the great things about EVs. Often these updates bring improvements and optimizations that make the ownership of the EV even better. They can even improve the vehicle's efficiency.

Even though I have had multiple successful OTA updates with my Tesla and a few with the Polestar, I still find myself hesitant to hit that install button when not at home. I got the update notification when I arrived at work. Even though the installation will only take an hour and a half, there is still the very small chance that something will happen during the update that could cause driveability issues with the car. I am aware this is highly unlikely, but I do not want to even chance the likelihood of being stuck at work any longer than I need to be. Call it overcautious if you will, but I'll install it when I get home.

Updates in software version P2.3

Improvements to ready-to-drive drive notification when using Pilot Assist.
Stability improvements for issue with unlocking the vehicle with physical key.
Optimized use of the heat pump through increased efficiency and improved utilization in colder climates.
Bug fix for false Park Assist System (PAS) “Service Required” message.

Note: To support this software release the sharing of information between your vehicle and other vehicles via our cloud service will be temporarily disabled if it was activated before. Your earlier privacy settings will remain when data sharing is enabled again. The temporary change applies only to vehicles in Europe and North America.
