Polestar has announced that the latest Over-the-Air (OTA) software update P2.7 will soon be available for its Polestar 2 electric vehicle. This update comes as a relief for Polestar 2 owners who were previously only able to access the P2.7 update through a Polestar Space service appointment. Thursday, the update will be deployed in batches, allowing for a smoother transition to the latest software version.

What's New in P2.7?

According to Polestar, the contents of P2.5 and P2.6 are also included in this software release. The update includes the re-enabling of data sharing between vehicles via the cloud service, which was temporarily disabled in P2.2. This change applies only to vehicles in Europe and North America. After installing the P2.7 update, users will be able to activate this feature again through the vehicle's privacy settings.

The update also includes stability improvements for the infotainment system, performance improvements, bug fixes for privacy settings in the Polestar account, and a bug fix for a clicking sound experienced in the cabin under regen braking. Polestar has also added an informational display on the Polestar app during the OTA software installation, which is valid from software version P2.5 and app version 3.13.

Why Are OTA Updates Important?

Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates are becoming increasingly important for electric vehicles, allowing for the remote updating of software without the need for a physical service appointment. These updates are crucial for ensuring the safety and reliability of electric vehicles, as well as for adding new features and improving performance.
