Polestar Announces Waze is Now Available on the Polestar 2

Polestar, the Swedish electric car brand, has announced that Waze, the popular navigation app, is now available for download and use on the Polestar 2. This announcement comes after Polestar stated last year that Waze, Netflix, and YouTube apps were in development for the Android Automotive operating system, but none were available until now.

According to Polestar, the Waze in-car app will provide real-time routing, navigation, and alerts directly from the car's display. Whether drivers are looking for the quickest route, trying to avoid traffic, or need directions to a new location, Waze has got them covered. If drivers already use the Waze mobile app, they can simply log into their account from the in-car app, and all their personal settings, preferences, and saved places will seamlessly transfer over to the car.
The Waze in-car app is now available for download in the Google Play Store in all markets, except for China and South Korea. However, as of 10:30 EST, Waze does not appear on the Android Automotive Play store for download and installation. It is possible that there is a delay in the launch of the new app and the announcement.

"We're excited to reveal that Waze is coming as an in-car app to Polestar 2," said a Polestar spokesperson. "Our customers have been eagerly waiting for this feature, and we're glad to finally deliver it to them. We look forward to hearing their feedback and seeing how they use Waze on our platform."
Unfortunately, it seems as though Waze will not be projected into the driver display. According to a statement released by Polestar, when a destination is set in Waze, Google Maps will be removed from the driver display and be replaced by simple turn-by-turn instructions in both navigation and calm modes. While this decision may not sit well with Waze enthusiasts, Polestar has assured customers that the functionality to enable the Waze map to be shown in the driver display is being explored as a future enhancement.

The Polestar 2 is an all-electric fastback that boasts a range of up to ~265 miles on a single charge. It features a sleek design and advanced technology, including Google Assistant and Google Maps built-in, making it a popular choice for tech-savvy drivers.
With the addition of Waze, Polestar 2 owners can now enjoy a seamless navigation experience that integrates with their car's display, allowing for safer and more efficient driving. As soon as Waze becomes available for download and installation on the Android Automotive Play store, Polestar 2 drivers can start using it to navigate their way around town.
